The screw will be sensitive and should only take ¼ to ½ turns to achieve the idle speed you like. Check and set idle to your driving preference. Put the car in gear and apply slight load, (AC on) and set the Idle as you like it. Don’t set it too high, as this will cause causes excessive clutch and brake wear. The Idle only needs to be 7 to 900 RPM with light load or AC on. Recheck timing and vacuum hook ups.
Recheck mixture screw to lean best idle again. If all is still best and smoothest idle then confirm and note the final settings.
To confirm settings with the engine running. Start by screwing in the mixture screw and count the number of turns it takes to bottom out and note if the engine dies. If Idle Mixture screws are with in ½ turn of base line setting then all is well and have fun. Also check the speed screw and note how many total turns from initial contact. You may have opened (turned in) the speed screw. Your final setting should be under 2 full turns.
Reset the screws (back in) to the best final settings (Per your notes) and go on a test drive and have fun. If the settings are other than described then you may want to recalibrate the Idle circuit (low speed circuit) to your engines needs. This is done by following the rule of thumb BELOW. When the mixture screw is less than 11/2 then the Idle jet is too rich (too large). These assumptions are based on the fact that the speed screw setting is not opened more than 11/2 turns. If the speed screw has to be opened 2 or more turns then this is also an indication of a lean condition usually requiring greater change. At times it may appear to be showing signs of richness or flooding it is really a lean condition. I'm new to the forum.this is actually my second post, and after reading all the posts, I'm sure I can find any info I need on my Eiger right here. I have used alot of the info I have read so far (I also referenced this great Keihin CVK32 pictoral site for disassemby and instructions ), to adjust my idle fuel/air mixture ratio. After looking at the spark plug (white and looked like it was running hot) I figured I was running lean.
Suzuki 50 Carb Adjustment
Had Suz adjust screw out to 2.5turns out. Still lean at idle. Adjust to 3 turns out myself.
Much better (by the way, It's about 20F and 500ft altitude). Just screwing around, I turned it out another rev (4turns) nothing significantly different, except the exhaust smells rich. If the exhaust is rich, should I get a miss when I tap the throttle (I get nothing)? Also, with 3 turns out, I can run the quad, after it is warmed up, with full choke on. Shouldn't it flood out? Does this Carb love to run rich? The eiger has a cv carb, and cv carbs cant use a real choke, so what the carb has is an enrichening circuit.
Basicly there is a stopper over an opening for gas, and when you open the so called choke, more gas spills in. This is why cv carbed motors dont like cold weather starting.the enrichener isnt as effective as a real choke. Which is also why itll idle with the so called choke on.
There are two ways to make mixtures richer.add fuel or decrease air. Seeing how the air isnt being cut, itll keep running.to a point, and then youll notice rich running issues.but itll take some time, because the enrichener circuit, isnt that overwelming like a real choke is. Same goes for the mixture screw, which is the fine tune adjustment for the pilot jet. After a point, the effectiveness drops way off, and on your carb, its right about 3 turns out. Unless you do the plug chop correctly, the readings are meaningless. Dont get hung up on the plug reading.use drivability as a guide to proper jetting. Basicly if you dont have symptoms of lean or rich.its jetted good.

Adjust the mixture screw out to what you need, but no more, and as long as you havent modified anything like the air box lid, or removed the baffle in the exhaust, the stock jetting should work for your location.
