A rare one a? I like the sounds of that Cost me $30 off a mate. If a manual cannot be found, I am not too stressed. I am mostly after some info on how to set it up with configuration and tuning ground if someone may be able to help with that. 50 years and this one hasn't been spotted? That's crazy, but it does explain why I cannot even find images of this detector on google, I wonder what it's story is? I have found nothing on google, so joining the forums here is my last hope of getting any info.
Yes, sorry, this model was built and sold primarily in Australia exclusively by our Sister Factory, White's UK, Inverness, Scotland. Follow the instructions for the 6000/D Series 2 model. The only difference is the SAT option. When using the ALL METAL Modes, GEB/NORM or GEB/MAX (as one would for prospecting for natural gold), the SAT option provides a self adjusting threshold to stabilize the threshold in radically changing ground conditions, common in Australia. Find the ground balance most common for the area then turn ON the SAT option.
It will make the GEB/NORM and GEB/MAX modes require some search coil motion to detect metals, however, it makes the ALL Metal modes much more practical to use in extreme grounds. SAT = Self Adjusting Threshold. It is like a monkey re-setting the reset button on the grip at regular intervals. If you do not sweep the search coil it will tune out targets. However, with search coil motion, it simply maintains a threshold over varied ground minerals so that you can recognize a real metal target and not spend all day re-ground balancing every step of the way. SAT is still used in modern models, especially prospecting models. Thanks again for more info guys, I've got both manuals now and am testing out the settings.
I don't seem to be getting the best depth on small items, but dug out a 3' chunk of rust at 10' depth. Showard - as I dont have SAT on my detector, do you think something like a 555 timer setup would work similar to automatically 'press' the button at intervals? I'm happy to modify it to make improvements. The smallest I have found so far with it in the past couple of days was a staple at 2' depth, pretty loud as well.
It seems my main issue is the threshold and a few places of re-soldering as the knobs can get sensitive. Any word on replacement GEB knobs at all for a model like this? One more thing if I can ask, sometimes it seems the coil ( i think ) has a loose connection. If I bump it into something, even gently, it can cut the unit out and it plays up a little. Coil or in the box u recon? Could be too hard to answer that one though as the possibilities. At least this detector is much better than my last, which seems to want to work in reverse whenever I hit a metal.

Your photo shows you do have the SAT option on your power control. Any electronics shop that has a bunch of old electronics is likely to have a knob off other types of equipment that will fit great. Broken electronic test equipment is great for high end knobs that will fit. The 'Set Screw' type knobs are no longer available from White's USA. White's UK may still have some. If you are in the UK, do check with them; Margaret.
If the ground balance is not set perfectly, search coil bumps will cause either false signals or nulling (goes quite). Try turning the GEB control a hair one way, or the other, and see if it improves. In the GEB/DISC mode, do some air testing and note if you sweep the target past the search coil too slowly, depth is not great. Sweep a little faster and note the increase in detection depth.
Find the best air test depth sweep speed, and try to reproduce it in your sweeping the search coil during searching. When everything is working great, you should be able to detect typical coins 6-8 inch distances from the bottom of the search coil.
Field The operator?s manual will show shortcuts and save you time and money. All the illustrations and exploded views of the component parts are very easy to understand and clearly illustrate procedures. Also consider purchasing the service manual(s) and parts catalog, if available. The operator's manual adds all the basic information meant for the end user of the machine, while the parts manual will make it much easier to find the right parts for the job and show in detail how the components are put together.
